ABOUT US

~What is the Give Me A Break Foundation?

Give Me A Break Foundation provides children and siblings of cancer patients a much-needed break. Kids and siblings of cancer patients are going through a scary, stressful, and difficult experience.  It is often hard for parents to devote the time or energy their children might need while they themselves are going through treatment. We want to help.

Give Me A Break provides kids, ages 4-14, with fun monthly outings. We give them the opportunity to get out and do something great, meet other kids going through a similar situation, and meet counselors who can provide emotional support. Give Me A Break was started by and is run by high school students who want to provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment while doing something good for their community.

These outings will be free to all participants. Students will fundraise year-round to provide outings to places such as movies, picnics, Sky High, Color Me Mine, bowling, the zoo, and many others. Outings will take place once a month and kids can sign up online for one outing at a time.

There will always be plenty of high-school counselors on each outing, as well as a few adult chaperones. Some counselors will be CPR and First-Aid certified and will receive sensitivity training from a psychologist. Transportation will not be provided, however all outings will be local in the San Fernando Valley.

We are seeking donations to help run this incredible organization. Let’s help our kids be kids and give these parents and their children a much-needed break.

~Who Are We?

We are two high school students who started this organization as a way for kids of cancer patients to have some fun and get away from their stressful lives at home. This charity gives parents, who are already suffering, peace of mind that their children are receiving the childhood that they deserve. We really wanted to give these kids a chance to connect with other children in similar situations, and to just be able to get away and have fun. Our goal is to give these kids a break and let them be kids.
